Supernode logo

PROJECT TYPE: Logo and website

BRIEF: Create a new logo mark for the SuperNode company and design their first website. The client had a basic idea for the logo, which became the foundation for concept iterations and ongoing review cycles to refine the design. The website brief was quite open, and the new business was in the process of setting up and structuring itself. A short and succinct website was the intention, though a significant amount of information needed to be conveyed.

SOLUTION – LOGO: The summary idea used to present the SuperNode business was abstract and the resulting logo I designed maintains this concept. I kept it simple and geometric, with a minimal structure. The colour palette was allowed a bit more reign as it could infer more connections from the main ‘node’. SuperNode itself features many different types of technology and networking, plus a considerable international level of co-operation, so the geometric style logo was a deliberately simple construction to better facilitate interpretation across many nationalities.

SOLUTION – WEBSITE:  The SuperNode project was to initially start in Europe, and was the first time something of this scale was to be attempted. To quickly convey the scope of this project an animated map of the network’s physical presence was determined to be an efficient way to quickly get the message across. I created this map as an HTML5 animation, for sharp, resolution independent, graphics and to help keep the file size down, since this is the first object to be seen on the Homepage.

As with most businesses starting from scratch there was no ‘service’ or ‘product’ that we could photograph for visuals, so we featured the founders of the new business, as they were already well known throughout the industry and would speak volumes for the intent of the new business.

In time SuperNode will have a great deal of impressive photography, as would be expected from such a large scale engineering project, but for our website we had to use what was available to us at the time: concept videos and photography of models built to show the project’s concepts.

I look forward to the next version of this website, and the next stage of development for SuperNode.
